Afternoon all,
Does anyone know of a decent firm who tarmac driveways? I'm in Carrickfergus.
Your recommendations would be very welcome.
Thanks!

I work for W.J.McCormick & Sons Ltd in Ballynahinch who are a Quarry and road contracting firm. Although they mainly do government contracts they would be able to recommend a good smaller firm in your area. The telephone number is 028 9756 2275.0

Hi,
Haven't got any quotes, just wondered if anyone could recommend a company rather than just taking some out of the yellow pages.
I'll give W.J.McCormick & Sons Ltd a ring and see what they say.
Thanks!0 -
Try W J Ervine - used him several times for driveways. Does a very good tidy job. Mobile 0771 009 0693 / home 028 90863732.0

my folks have used Ervine's mentioned above a couple of times for tarmacing... only bloke my dad will trust with tarmac, v v good job, only reason it's a couple of times is that we've moved house... latest job has lasted 15 years and still looks immaculate. more recently my ex got his done by him and also was an excellent job.0

I'm just reviving this thread because I'm looking to find out if anyone knows how much an asphalt driveway would cost (laid) per square metre nowadays? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Did you get any quotes for the paving?

Sorry Des been away so just catching up on posts now. Got quote for cost of paviers for the patio but not labour yet. For approx 90 sq mtrs plus 2 circles, step risers(??) and sand - £1560 inc VAT.
From this thread here I contacted W J Ervine re our driveway but he does Bitmac and DH wants asphaltso he was great and gave me the name of Michael Moulds 07801347363, 028 9266 6174 who has given us a quote for that.
Driveway is approx 130 sq mtrs and he quoted £1400 to overlay existing tarmac or £2300 to lift the drive and completely redo it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for that, I need to redo ours so always handy to have an idea of relative costs! The only thing I would say about asphalt is it seems to become like an ice rink in cold weather.

does anyone mind telling me what the difference is between bitmac and asphalt? my mum is looking her driveway done and we were going to give W J Ervine a ring ourselves going by the recommendations on this thread.0
