Temporary Contract problem!

I am currently in full time employment and my partner is in a fixed term (maternity cover) contract. We have a deposit of £20,000 and are looking at properties for around £200,000. We did an online mortgage in principle with Nationwide (who we save with) and got rejected. When I investigated further they simply said it would probably be down to the fact that my partner is on a temporary contract.
Has anyone had any luck with lenders who look at an individual case? She has been in regular employment now for 5 years (only 21) and I have been working the past 11 years.
My salary is £25,000
Her's is currently £28,000
Any help would be great!

There are highly likely to be options (subject to the detail)
You really need to have a chat with a broker to bottom out solutions.
The length of the fixed term and her track record are likely to be requested by the lender, so again need to stack upI am a Mortgage Broker

So the odds of a contract extension are low. If you partner has no income you cannot support a £180k mortgage. Perhaps lower your expectations until such time as your partner has a securer source of income.0
