Sharing my OysterCard

I don't live in London and I haven't used my OysterCard in several years, but I have just checked online and TFL still recognises my card.

Apparently it is fine for me to lend my PAYG card to anybody, but if two of us get on the bus at the same time we are not allowed to swipe the card twice.

How does that make sense?

I think I've worked out the answer to my own question - allowing double swipes would screw up the daily capping deal...

More than one person can use a PAYG card - just not at the same time.

You can now however use a contactless card to pay for travel

Whether it makes sense to you or not, only one person can use an Oyster card at any one time.

No further explanation necessary.

Call it a safety setting. It stops people touching in twice for the same journey. Therefore if you try and use the same card a second time it just won't work.
