Maximum phones that can be sent to Tesco?

Hiya

I can remember reading somewhere that the maximum number of mobile phones that could be recycled with Tescos for points was 5 per clubcard? Ive been trying to find this info again but cannt find it.

Could someone still let me know if 5 is the maximum!?

Thanks

  • Hi

This may not answer your question as they've probably removed the loophole by now:rolleyes: but it may interest you anyway. Link didn't seem to work so have pasted it below.

Man wins mobile recycling battle with Tesco
it_portal_pic_63079_t.jpg A Welsh man is set to enjoy a "holiday of a lifetime" after winning a battle with Tesco over its mobile phone recycling scheme.

Rob Sharpe, of Abergele, collected 133 handsets by setting himself up as the unofficial collection point for the area's unwanted mobiles. He was looking to reap 500 loyalty card points for each working phone and 100 for each broken handset, thereby accumulating 40,000 points to exchange for holiday vouchers.
But after he sent the phones to Tesco, he was contacted to be told here was a limit of five phones per person. There was nothing in the terms and conditions of the Tesco Green Recycling scheme limiting the number of phones people could send in.
Sharpe pressed Tesco for an explanation.
"I rang three or four times over about two or three weeks and spoke to different people each time," he said. "I couldn't get a definitive answer as to how the system worked or how and when the points would go on the card. Nobody seemed to know the answer."

The BBC Wales' consumer programme X-Ray intervened and Tesco conceded there was no limit on the number of phones. Having received 111 from him they credited his account with the points and agreed to search for the missing 22.
Tesco said that there had been a backlog of phones that needed to be processed through the recycling company, Greener Solutions. Rather than dumping them in landfill, the company reconditions the phones, many of which are then sent to developing countries.

But they added that the scheme was never intended to be a commercial opportunity for people to collect large amounts of phones and exchange them for points.

    Good Luck:beer:

I read on another thread on here that tesco have removed the limit of 5 per person...probably due to the collector above!

Worth emailing customer service and getting a definitive answer
