Delivery from Amazon, but never ordered!

Hi all

Bit of an awkward situation we are in. Today my wife got a delivery from Amazon for a Xbox one online gaming recording thing. Basically nothing we would ever want or order and costs well is excess of £150 on their site.

We were both bemused when it arrived and just didn't understand what to do next. First thing we thought was to find the receipt inside (there was no paperwork inside). We have not ordered anything from amazon in months, we phoned this afternoon and of course they have no record of delivery. We logged into my wife's amazon today after having our password reset as it was forgotten and it confirms there that no orders placed in over a year.

Please don't think we want the item, we don't want to sell it, we want to send it back but where too?? Will they have any idea why it's being sent to them? Who ordered and paid for this?

Confused and any help very much appreciated. I have a photo of the packaging if it helps but has all the amazon packaging etc.

    Xmas Saver!
I would contact amazon again and ask for a returns label. I would have thought if it was sold by them they could check out recent orders and also the person who ordered this will be on the phone to them very soon so maybe able to match things up.

if they won't except it then it's down to you as to what you do with it

    Hung up my suit!
Keep it. It's legally yours if Amazon do not contact you within six months. ;)

I had a similar issue with aftershave worth 175 quid which I still have 2 years later.

Are there any numbers on the address lable, bar code, that would give Amazon some way of tracing where it came from?

Is it a flat stick on delivery lable, or a poly bag with the paperwork inside?

Is it a genuine Amazon delivery lable or has the packaging been altered?
  • have you entered any competitions that this could have been a prize?
