Organic bananas

I refuse to pay full price for them which is around double the price of loose normal ones.

On several occasions, I have bought a pack of organic ones with YS on them for 20-40p.

I bought a bag of 7 on Wednesday and the four remaining ones still look as good as I bought them.

If I bought loose bananas five days ago, they would be very spotty.

Does anyone know why organic bananas do this? I hang them on a banana stand

First off Sainsbury's sells organic Fairtrade bananas by weight and I've gotten 5 for 88p :) Next cheapest place IME is Lidl.

My mother keeps bananas in fridge - the skins go black but she sez they're OK inside. Keep mine on their own in a bowl, they never last long enough to get spotty when OH is around.

Why buy fruit and expect it to keep longer than 5 days ?

Organic bananas aren't ripene artificially with chemicals. That may make a difference to how long they last.
