Which Slanket?

My mum would love a slanket type thing and so I thought I would get her one for Christmas. Obviously I'm on a budget and can't afford the £30.00 the originals currently are. I have found these two and was wondering which most people would go for as I'm kind of torn between the two.

  • I personally would go for the find me a gift one that's reduced from £30 to £15 as the reviews are very good & they have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)

Are you talking about the travel one I did the link for or this one?

As the only one that is half price is the peace one and I don't think my mum would really like that one.

I'd get the one from Coopers as it it bigger. I have one (well actually it's my son's!!) and although it seems thin it is very warm. You just have to mind you don't trip over it.

I made one each for my teenage grandchildren a couple of years ago from cheap Ikea fleeces. They still use them when watching TV. I need to make one for my 7 year old grandson as he has grown out of the one he had when he was 4!

ETA I've just seen the other link from Find Me A Gift and that is the one I have - an original Slanket.

Kaye, when I was originally looking I thought of QVC but it was showing as out of stock so thank you for showing me it's back in.

Sue, would you still go for the Coopers one or would you now recommend the original?

I have bought stuff from Coopers before, although not one of these, and have always been pleased with the quality. However the Slanket was the original one so may be better. Sorry not to be more helpful.
  • I would go with the proper branded Slanket from find me a gift. It might be the smaller travel sized one but the quality and thickness of the fleece is much higher than any of the cheaper alternatives I've seen.
  • Im sure theres some slankets in the BHS sale
  • Make sure you check the overall measurements - I say this because my mum bought some cheap ones the other year and, while the fabric was very warm, there wasn't enough fabric to tuck round you or reach your feet so it was pretty useless really and nothing like the size suggested by the photo on the box.

If you can make one, I would - it's only a big square with two rectangles sewn into slits for the sleeves and that way you'd be sure of size and fabric quality - probably cheaper too if you re-purpose some cheap superstore fleeces like LV Sue did above.
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!

I would suggest getting the original slanket from QVC. I have three(!) now and they are so much thicker and warmer than regular fleeces. My partner and I wear them loads in the winter months and we sling them over our bed too for extra warmth.
