Student Loan, Coporate Sponsor or Grants.

I'm considering going to the Open University which seems to be one of the cheapest options.

It costs £5264 a year for 120 credits of study. I plan on doing 30 - 60 credits a year part time which comes to £1316 - £2632.
I understand that this debt is a different kind of debt? One which can only effect the excess that I earn over £21,000.

This kind of worries me because in 15 years time £21,000 could well be worth £10,000 in purchasing power. I need to be careful with how much debt I take on.

I would like to know whether it would be worth taking on a student loan or starting a campaign to get a Corporate Sponsor or Grant.

I was attracted to the idea because a company called Specialisterne is recruiting people with Autism.

It seems the best thing to do because the Government seem to be attacking disabled people like myself left, right and center. I need something to fall back on else I could be forced to work at £2 a hour. I don't want that.

So could anyone help me?

You're only likely to get a corporate sponsor if you are in employment. Are you working at the moment?

The threshold for repaying the student loan increases over time.

If you have not had a student loan before, then you may qualify for one for your studies. They become repayable when your income hits a certain threshold. Talk to the OU about the options available to you.

You are unlikely to qualify for any form of corporate support unless you are already in organisation and the degree is going to provide a significant benefit to the company.

Do you know where the small print is for the threshold increasing over time?

"The £21,000 threshold will start to rise with UK average earnings from 2017 (the year after full time 2012 starters begin to repay)."
