Broker problems

We are in the middle of a mortgage application and have an offer. Have recently become aware a number of inccuracies in data submitted to lender eg time at address wrong, salary wrong, debts listed at much higher that they are etc. Broker says this is all ok and no action needs to be taken.

Mortgage offer says we need to pay off certain debts but unclear whether this means the lender is expecting the whole balance to be cleared. eg it says £100 off credit card (well the outstanding balance is about £4k)

Feel really let down especially as we have paid for this broker's service. If I had submitted my application directly it wouldn't have all these mistakes.

No idea what to do now.

Didn't you check and sign the mortgage application prior to submission?
  • No I haven't signed anything. The mortgage application was submitted electronically and the details were only sent to me afterwards.

Not all application forms need signing - very few do.

Ask the broker to correct the inaccuracies - send it via email, that way if anything comes back to bite you, you have written evidence you asked for it to be corrected.

Sometimes we do put incorrect info in (mistakes happen) - but that being said I send a copy of the application over to the client to check through and would usually correct things. Some exceptions being for example if they have put your address down as 7 years but you have been there for 10 - its not really worth changing as they would not check further back than 6 years anyway.
