Blocked hoover help

I tried clearing up some shredded paper that had been spilt the other day and I think its blocked my hoover.
I have taken the bits apart that I know I can do easily and given it a good clear out but its still not happy :(
Its an Electrolux 'The Boss' upright with a bag. It's old but my FIL gave it to me after my Dyson died a few months ago and I couldn't afford a new one. Its a brilliant hoover so I'm a bit loath to replace it if I can help it.
Has anyone had one of these? If so is there a way of getting to the innards where the hose goes to clear that bit out? I have thought of cutting a metal coat hanger and poking that in there but don't want to cause more damage.

Go to the Electrolux website and see if they have a user manual for the model you have:

    http://www.electrolux.co.uk/Support/Manuals/

There is usually something in the 'Troubleshooting' section about how to clear blockages and clean filters etc.

If perchance it's only the hose that's blocked you could try what I do:

I unplug the hose from my Vax, and put the nozzle end in the machine where the other end was. (I put my hand round it to make it as air tight as possible.)

This will often clear the blockage by sucking it back out of the nozzle end.

Thanks for the help. Managed to clear the blockage this morning, it was in a part of the hose I hadn't checked.
It really is a good hoover for a basic model and quite an old one. Will be sad when it dies!
