25.7.07 what small dfw thing will you do/have you done today?

Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. The middle of the week is here already :D

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- check online banking and update spreadsheet
- make sure as many appliances as poss are switched off at the wall
- use only the storecupboard/freezer for meals today
- do clicks and surveys
- not increase my debt in any way
- be positive
- not use the car for any unnecessary journey
- take some fruit back to the shop that has gone mouldy before its sell by date
- buy Elle magazine to get a free haircut as per :money: money tips today.
- do some more admin!

Have a good day everyone xx

Hi hypno, hi all. Today I have:
    - run another combo in the matcher spreadsheet for matched betting, and it worked (but I only know because an experienced person already gave feedback - *really* don't trust myself yet).
    - have done my finance practice.
    - have been over on the Old Style thread getting muffin recipes, esp carrot....
    - have applied to join gfk!!!

For the rest of today, I will:
    - do some surveys
    - phone some builders *again*.
    - start doing my website. I've got Dreamweaver, what else do I need? [Karmacat gives a hollow, hollow laugh]....
    - hurray, just sold a book on Amazon, so off to post. Eternal gratitude to the freecycler who gave me loads and loads of padded envelopes.

OTOH, I may continue re-reading Harry Potter.........

I'm taking my daughter to see Hairspray with my Orange Wednesday BOGOF ticket.

Paid some bills online, read loads of postings on here.

I inspired a friend to reclaim his bank charges today! £220 for them!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

i gave my dd a packed lunch to take to her cousin whos minding her thru the hols. I also gave her 2quid and told her it wasn't to spend but, if cousin bought her kids dinner she was to give her the 2 quid as a contribution.

i came to pick her up and when there said to cousin - can i have a look at your OK mag and she said it's not mine it's your dd's. So I asked dd and she said she had spent the £2 on it. I gave her a motherly lecture and made her take it back the shop. I felt awful as in the grand scheme of things £2 is nothing but she totally disobeyed me and i've been telling her all week we had to 'be careful'. Anyway she came back from the shop and said the woman said she shouldn't really refund but would just this once.

i feel sooo bad but dd is 12 and i just thought she was taking the mick.

hopefully she's learnt her lesson. Anyway this means i saved £2. and i took a packed lunch too. 0 spending for 2 days now.

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
