Aldi now taking credit cards

Whilst doing my weekly shop last night in Aldi I noticed that near the tills they had small signs stating that they now take all major credit cards. I'm in England btw.

Not sure what the supermarket have to pay, maybe 2.5%, which will then be passed onto the customer. So expect price rises at Aldi and Lidl.

I've always payed with a credit card in ALDI. They seemed to actively encourage it because it's faster and they try to force people through the checkouts as fast as they can. My local ALDI also introduced contactless payment a long time ago as well, long before any other major supermarket (in fact, no other supermarket I've been to accepts contactless payments yet).

I suspect you're in or near Scotland. It's the English stores that started accepting Visa and MC a month or so ago.

Try again? They all do, don't they?

I have no problems at our local Waitrose and other retailers accept them with no bother. Other than the limit of £20 of course ...
