Hi.
Can someone help? How do I approach the underwriters for Halifax Mortgages. The declined our mortgage application, but I was advised to approach the underwriters.
Anyone any experience with this?

The underwriters won't speak to you. What grounds were given for the decline.0

Who advised you to "approach the underwriters?"

You won't get access to an underwriter directly.
You will need to use your usual contact centre and tell them you wish to appeal the decision.
This will be passed to an underwriter who will uphold the original decision, or ask for documentation/information to support your appeal so it can be reconsidered.I am a mortgage broker. Your default sounds like the problem - when was it, how much for, and have you paid it.I am a Mortgage Broker

Right. So this is a direct to Halifax port with a default.
Is the default visible on all three versions of your credit file? As amn asked, how much, when registered and by whom?
Start thinking about an independent broker who will be able to place this case for you.I am a mortgage broker. Default £331 back in 2012. But account was closed in 2010. It looks like They only recorded it on experian in 2012. Phoned to ask why but no one really knew. There is no balance on it now.
We didn't even know about it until Halifax suggested we get our experian reports.0
