Natwest Intention to Lend - Poor Credit

Hi I am in need of some advice.
I have a "Poor" Experian credit rating due to missed payments (over 18 months old) and 2 x low value (<£300) defaults on my credit file which are 3 years old.
However I have enquired about a mortgage with Natwest (my current account provider) and have received an Intention to Lend for my desired value. I understand during this process that they have carried out a "soft search" on my credit file. Does this mean that my credit score has been considered when providing me with an intention to lend?
I accept that my credit file is less than desirable however since getting my finances in order 18 months ago my credit file is clear.
I can also demonstrate a well managed current account and never go over the credit limit on my credit card (a credit rating improving product).
If anyone out there can help me with this enquiry it would be very much appreciated as I dont want to be putting offers on houses only to fall at the first hurdle with Natwest!

I wouldn't read to much into the Natwest 'Intention to lend'.

In your position I would speak with an independent mortgage broker/advisor. They will be able to find a lender that have a right criteria to lend to you.
