Aldi's 'Beluga Caviar'

Options
Hi guys,

Did anyone see the article about the Beluga caviar sold at Aldi over the weekend?

They had to rename their £9.99 Beluga caviar because it was found to come from a hybrid of the species... The real stuff costs £215 at Fortnum and Masons!

Do you think there's any other ways that they might have tricked us or are tricking us with falsely labelled products?

Whilst I agree with your basic point that Aldi must have realised they where stretching /overstepping the food labelling laws - The price comparison you have quoted is misleading
    £9.99 for 20g at Aldi
    £215 for 100g ( so £43 for 20g ) at F&M

Possibly. What products are you thinking about ?
  • I don't think they would have deliberately 'tricked' people as mislabeling things is fairly serious offence. People and companies do make mistakes though; that's life.
Am surprised Aldi is selling caviar though - it's a fairly unique taste that v few people I know actually like; and certainly wouldn't have thought there's much market for it.
