There's a reasonably easy achievement for getting to Ending A in 15 hours, but if you stop there then the game is perhaps a 7 out of 10 - keep going to Ending B and it's easily a 9 or better, and you don't replay the entire game. But I can't reveal any more than that without spoiling it. Just PLAY TO ENDING B! (C and D are not essential in the way that B is)
I suspect that the review scores for Nier easily show which reviewers stopped at Ending A and which continued to Ending B.
Don't prioritise Amalur - there's nothing wrong with it, it's a perfectly serviceable action RPG, but it's far too easy (unless you mod it on PC), it takes too long to play (as it was going to be a MMORPG), and it just adds nothing to gaming (WoW's assets, derivative powers/skills/loot, generic setting/story/side-quests).
Thanks I will give it a go next, I've been quite busy with 3DS games lately so other things got pushed aside. I have Amalur on Xbox unfortunately so no mods (only have a Elder Scrolls and Sims games on PC, except Skyrim which I have on all platforms).

14 I think is something you're either in MMORPGs or not... if you are, and especially if you're into the whole Final Fantasy series I think you're much more inclined to like it (there are some nice homages to past games in it) but I still prefer XI in terms of their online offerings. It's shaping up to be a decent little game in there if you get in with a nice group of fellow players and the turnaround they've done in terms of how completely and utterly awful it was at its original release (I actually played the 1.0 alpha so I've seen the whole evolution of it) is really impressive. I don't put the hours into it I did into XI - but that's because life's changed since then and I'm much more into the crafting side of the game these days as well.
12 I couldn't get into at all - 13 I kind of liked, but then 13-2 and 12-3 were increasingly irritating and painful.
Lost Odyssey I adored - may be biased since Uematsu did the music though...Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I play 14, though a bit like the last poster, mainly into the crafting which is stupidly addictive!!
I tend to play a lot and then have a week or so away but I always end up going back. I know that the people I used to group with for story events will come back for the expansion next year and we will likely progress it together. We are friends as far back as PSO though and then FFXI for YEARS.
14 has its faults but it's a nice game where you can do as much or as little as you like, when you like. I don't see myself staying anywhere near as long as I did on XI but it suits me just fine right now.
7 and 10 will never be beaten though.Sealed Pot 5 number 15440 -
Just gone back on to FFXI this week, as it's free for the week for anyone who subscribed in the past. Nice to see some old friends.0
