Extra Earnings

My son is about to start his teacher training PGCE in September. He has been working in a school as a learning mentor but has now finished for the holidays.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where he can earn some extra pennies to help ease the burden of once again student life.

    Hi Bykerlass,
Has your son thought of tutoring? Which level is he training for? He can earn up to £20 per hour tutoring - nice and easy one or two evenings per week, should help loads.;)
It's a bit far off, but if he is training for one of the core subjects in secondary, he can apply to be a SATs marker next year - grim per hour rate but mounts up to one decent(ish) lump sum at the end of July.:T

I worked in pubs and clubs throughout mine - not helpful when some of the 6th form in your placement school walk in and try to drink to excess!!!:rotfl:

Wish him the very best of luck.

He is entitled to a student loan and some assistance with living expenses but not easy to live on this whils having to continue to pay his present debts.

:D My pleasure Bykerlass. As he's going to do upper primary, is there, by any chance, a big fancy private secondary school nearby? There is someone near us who tutors kids to help them pass the entrance exam, and she earns an absolute fortune. It may be worth him making enquiries. :D

Also, SATs are [strike]suffered[/strike] taken by year 6 petals, so there is an opportunity for marking there too.

    Take care,
    Tilly

That sounds a great idea Tilly I will get him on the case.
Where would he find out about marking the SATs, I am just an ignorant mum who is trying to help him out. He doesn't know what cunning plans I have instore for him to tackle his debt. Mostly student debt I may add.

    Once a again thanks
