Hi All
Quick question, I have recently sold my property and moved to my father's house whilst looking for a new property - 6 weeks ago.
I have found and had an offer accepted on a new property and I am currently using a broker to obtain a mortgage with the Post Office (Bank of Ireland). When I have sent my Proof of Address details in, I have been told they cannot be accepted as they show my old address. So I have changed my address with the bank and an old utility company and got them to re-send documents out. Easy.
The problem now is that they also won't accept my drivers licence as it also has my old address on there. This is only being used as proof of identity rather than address, as my Passport expired at the start of the year.
I wondered if anyone had experience of this before?
The broker is now telling me I have to amend my licence address with the DVLA and get a new licence sent out before they can accept this!! Oh and additionally I cannot do this online now, as I need the information from the back of my photocard - which is with the broker.
Having worked in banking for a number of years, I can understand the reasoning, but it all seems a little excessive, especially being that I will then have the amend the licence again if I get this property .
Has anyone had experience of this, and should it matter if my 6 week old address is on the licence when it is only being used for Proof of identity, rather than of address??
Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!
Thanks
