Single Mortgage but joint bank account

My husband is self-employed, and in overdraft with business account and his accounts won't satisfy a mortgage. We have a joint mortgage at moment but selling the property and looking for new. The current situation won't work for a joint mortgage but my earnings are sufficient for mortgage application and funding and credit history is excellent however all our finances are conducted via one joint personal bank account(not linked to his business account) If applying in my own right for a mortgage, and using this bank account as evidence of income etc - will it call into question his link to the mortgage/finances. Should I open a new bank account in my own individual name or should it be inconsequential.

The biggest issue will be that many lenders will not accept a single mortgage application from a married applicant.


Your husbands lack of profit from the business does not necessarily preclude him from being on the mortgage application.
