Catalogue charges

Can't seem to find anything recent on here regarding claiming catalogue charges. Has anyone a link? Is it possible to claim back charges? I've read through the reclaim £1,000 thread but it's all about ppi and doesn't mention catalogues.

what are your grounds for wanting to reclaim charges?0

They continually charged me whilst setting up a payment plan, what was supposed to help pay off the debt therefore increased it. I was charged for late payment, debt letters, etc even though I had contacted them and was trying to pay off the debt by setting up an agreed plan with them.0

I thought there was a template letter on here but can't find it. Anyone help? Can't understand why catalogue charges of £12, supposedly to cover the cost of a letter or phone call, doesn't warrant more of a fuss, this site is all over bank charges but seems to be ignoring what for many is a bigger and much more costly problem.0

There wasn't a big court case like with PPI or bank charges (which the banks won by the way). £12 is deemed acceptable by the OFT for a late payment.
If you have complained to the firm (don't need a template letter, just set out your complaint reasons if you haven't already done so) and if/when you have had a rejection you could try the Ombudsman but as unless there is a precedent or some ruling that the fees were unfair then you may not get lucky
You can try the CAG forum here but doesn't seem to be any specific case/process

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

So charges were applied in line with the agreement you entered into, until such times as an alternative agreement was mutually agreed
i.e. the revised payment plan.
I don't see any valid grounds for a refund on that basis, I'm afraid.
In the past it may have been possible to reclaim unfair, excessive charges (typically in excess of £12 each), and the reclaiming credit card charges article was essentially the process to follow
