Support For Mortgage Interest Question
unfortunately
Hi Everyone,
I've got a question relating to SMI. basically, my mother has a house in her name, the mortgage debt has exceeded well over £50,000.
She hasn't worked in 17 years due to severe mental health problems. she has regularly been receiving money from the government to help pay off some of the mortgage interest (£101 a month).
Recently I've gotten a job. The salary is average considering where I live but its decent none the less.
My question was basically this, would the government stop the help that they currently provide because I'm now employed fulltime and live at home with her.
Or would things carry on as normal?
many thanks for your responses!

I would suggest informing the DWP of a "change in circumstances". I'm pretty sure the mortgage payments will be affected by the extra household income.
I could be wrong but better safe than sorry IMO, you don't want to find yourself accused of Benefit Fraud months or years down the line.
I hope I am wrong.

Absolutely agree with the above - give full disclosure to DWP about the new circumstances and they will give you the definitive answer.0
