If you pay off the debts (£12,000), you'll have saved that £12,000 back in just under 2 and a half years at the current rate of £405 a month.0

How about a compromise? pay off the CCs - which will take an eternity on the minimum payments, try and get the DCA ones to accept low Full and finals, and decide which one of the two projects is the priority, the bathroom refit or the kitchen extension, and have that one done, then save the rest as a buffer/emergency fund.ISA £1675

Definitely show him this thread Hurdy Gurdy. And ask him if he'd rather have the extension knowing he doesn't owe anyone a dime and you guys did it WITHOUT DEBT, or have it and still have the worries of debt. Knowing you don't owe anyone anything is a wonderful feeling- I'm almost there myself and I can't waitDebt free 6th December 2014
