I stopped my ADs several times over the years. They're used to it. The only way they can help you is if you go back to them.
    Good luck<3
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

Doctors have heard everything under the sun, nothing surprises them and they work in the here and now to get people's health back on track.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Big News Claire - You're only human !

You've had a stressful situation and you've struggled to cope, you most certainly aren't the first and won't be the last to wonder how this happened. You need some support ,we all do when things are going wrong.

Yes, in an ideal world you wouldn't gamble or be depressed. But given it isn't an ideal world please try and ask for help even if it seems very hard to do.

And incidentally don't give up if you ask for help and it doesn't appear quickly and easily. You might have a lovely GP and good services in your area, it isn't like that everywhere though.
That isn't your fault it's just bad luck, but you do deserve to have help so keep asking.

Support groups online or better still face to face are really great resources.

But like others have said, don't beat yourself up, be kind and gentle to yourself in the way you would be to a good friend who was having a hard time.

Mostly just remember this can pass, you can be well and happy again.

All my best wishes for good days to come X
  • Hi everyone,

I was put on anti-depressants and also high blood pressure tablets a while ago now, but stupidly stopped taking them. Basically I had a job and one day out of the blue was told the contract was being terminated due to cuts the DWP were making. I became more depressed and the tablets I was on weren't touching it, I started gambling to try and give myself a boost and got myself into debt and couldn't afford the prescriptions. Months and months have passed, and I'm terrified of going back to the doctors for anything as I know they will ask why I stopped taking them and very worried about how they will view it ?

The blood pressure is an important thing to keep my eye on as I was born with just one kidney, high blood pressure I've read can damage kidneys

Depression wise I have days where I am fine, and then the smallest thing sets me off crying. I can also go days and weeks without finding anything to be cheerful about and getting up in the morning is a struggle

What would people advise in this situation? I don't mind going back to the doctors but just worries me about how stupid I am going to look when I tell them why I stopped taking the tablets

Go back to the doctors hun, I stopped taking anti-depressants (fluoxetine) because I was gaining weight and not sleeping. Despite reading tonnes and tonnes of reviews online about what could happen if you just stop.

I learnt my lesson because my anxiety got far far worse through not taking them, and then worrying that I hadn't taken them.

Hope you feel better soon x

  • Hi Claire, I suffered depression after having my youngest, not post natal, it was all related to leaving my abusive partner at 3 months pregnant. I declined anti-depressants offered by my doctor as she said I may feel worse for the first 7 days and I just couldn't face that!
Anyway, I found counselling was a real help to help me understand myself, I wasn't keen on the idea but thought what the heck, i'll give it a go!
I also started eating a better diet with lots of fresh food, drinking lots of water and I started exercising twice a week and walking lots, the endorphins released from exercise really helped to lift my mood!
Doctors are not judgemental of your situation, and if you have money worries they may be able to offer additional advice regarding prescriptions :)
Good luck getting yourself back on track, take care of yourself xx
