Looked over these posts for a while however only partially committed to over paying a minimal amount a month, rounding up to the nearest £100 (approx £90 extra) plus a few lump sums.
We (myself, my partner, 2 cats and a scruffy standard poodle) have been in our house for 5 years and the mortgage started at £140,000.00 and is now at approx £106,500.00.
We have always been good at not spending on unnecessary items for example we quit the TV licence about 3 years ago in favour of catching up on i-player.
So it is time to get a grip and really reduce the mortgage as much as we can, we are aiming to replay the remaining balance in 5 years - Jan 2020 :j
I've a good job and have probably hit the ceiling on what I can earn (we live up North unless I want to move to London). My partner has the potential for progression and is currently undertaking exams to reach that goal. I am 37 and my partner is 33.
Budget, now revised for additional mortgage overpayment, as below, comments welcome.
Looking forward to the journey with you all on here.
