o.k. here goes probably not the right place for this but I am also posting this on the competitions board etc.,
Please note this will minimise my chances of going again so be grateful!!
The wimbledon ballot allows one entry only per household.
For the 2008 Public ballot you need to obtain an application form from the 1st August 2007(heads up so we are in early, send to arrive on the 1st so you get you form back quickly). Any applications received postmarked after the 15th December 2007 will not be proccessed.
The applications are processed by computer and no dates or games can be booked it is just the luck of the draw. No reselling of these tickets is allowed and if you put them on any forum to be sold they will be disallowed(you have been warned, by Wimbledon not me)!
To apply you need to send a stamped addressed envelope (DL size) measuring 110mm x 220 mm (4 1/4 x 8 5/8 to: (yes there is a cost two stamps)
Ticket Office
AELTC
P.O. Box 98,
London.

I have been very lucky with these and have had centre court and also a pair for the mens final also outside courts and these are usually not fully subscribed so you can wander in it is so worth it for the experience!!
If you want to find out more go the the official Wimbledon site at:
http://aeltc.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/ballot.html
I hope some of us get the tickets as it is well worth it!
Good luck!!:T :T :T

Thanks nearly forgot all about this. :j
Just one thing to add as the title mentions that the tickets are free, they will actually be between around £50 and £170 for the pair.0 -
No !! this is the ballot. You send off for an application form and then are entered into the ballot there is no charge! You are looking at a different item!0

Thanks very much for this, looks great!
Just to check, can we send off for the form or do we need to wait until the 1st of August?0 -
I send mine off two days before to arrive there on the 1st August:- reason done it before and I know what the back log can be like! If they have a big back log it can take over a month to get your form then you have to send it back etc etc so get it in early!!
Good luck :j0 -
I have entered this ballot every year for serveral years now. If you win in the ballot you are offered tickets for a specific day and court and told the price that they will cost you . If you want the offered tickets you must then send of a cheque.Never pay more than you have too0
-
Yes I thought this is a ballot to be allocated the possibility of purchasing tickets, not getting them for free.ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0

I am so sorry but I have never had to pay for tickets read the info this is a free ballot !! I have had several tickets and I have only ever had to pay for the stamps. Read the info on the website and do not turn others away. I think you are reading the higher up info on open public afer 8 at night this is a totally free ballot! I would not have put it on otherwise! I have done this ballot for 30 years and have had at least 10 tickets all were free and all were fantastic. Read the proper stuff!0

I actually give up this is a great chance to be entered into a free ballott to recieve a pair of tickets to wimbledon no catch no payment no strings attached .I have been doing this for a long time and have spnet many a happy hour there for free.0

Well just speaking from experience (having also been successful in the ballot many times), all it does is give you a chance to purchase tickets.
I send the form off just as you describe between August 1st and December 31st each year. If successful they require payment, between £50 and £170 for the pair depending on the day/court.
Quoting from the Wimbledon website:Demand for Wimbledon tickets always exceeds supply; therefore the Club operates a public ballot for advance sales of a number of Centre, No. 1 and No. 2 Court tickets. The main proportion of Centre, No. 1 and No. 2 Court tickets are sold in advance by a public ballot starting in August of the previous year.0 -
Having "won" centre court tickets fore the opening day in last year's ballot, fraid I have to agree with Molar. The public ballot allocates a certain number of tickets for the show courts on each day of the championships but if you are successful you still have to buy the tickets you have been allocated. They are not free...though there is no charge for entering the ballot. In Wimbledon 2007 we paid £35 per ticket for our allocation...and saw lots of rain, Roger Federer and Tim Henman.
A great day out, and very good of Wimbledon to hold back tickets for the public which they could easily sell at higher rates but not not a freebie....which didn't stop me sending off my application this morning!Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0
