The OP seeks advice about starting a new business with a certain capital. I point out the small biz board which contains lots of info about starting/funding/running etc etc a new business.

Whats wrong with that ?

I would say that first you need to decide where your interests may lie. For example, if you like animals, maybe consider a petsitting franchise. To become a Petpals franchisee costs under £20k. I've met lots of stay-at-home mums who have bought into kid friendly franchises - you can find lots of opportunities on Net Mums or Working Mums. Otherwise I would advise googling the type of industries you may be interested in along with your area and 'franchise'.

If you wish to start an independent business, the same advice applies about what you may be interested in doing and what skills you have. Then research what other companies are offering. Hope that helps and good luck.
