Disney Infinity and 2.0 - confused about the figures

Hi all,

Hoping you can help me please - I would like to get Disney Infinity 2.0 for my fiancee for Christmas but I am a bit confused about the play sets from the original game not working on 2.0? Can somebody explain it further to me as I am just not understanding what I am reading on the Internet :-)

From what I think I understand - figures from the original game like the Sorceror Mickey will work on the 2.0 but the playset pieces like the Cars set with Lightening McQueen and Sally won't? (sorry I have tried to add links to explain what figures I am talking about but because I am a newbie I cant :-) )


It kind of puts me off it because I think it's bad that half the figures on the 1st game won't work...most of the characters on the first one are ones that my Fiancee would love! But I suppose more and more new characters would be released for 2.0 as well?

The characters from the playsets will work but ONLY in Toybox mode - the playpieces (the see through ones which open up the "movie" worlds) however do not work in 2.0. So all the characters work, but the playpieces do not.
