Have you ever wasted money on a gym as a New Year's Resolution?

Hello,
I'm a freelance journalist for the Guardian and the Observer and have been given permission by MSE to post on this forum.
I'm writing an article for the Observer this week and would like to interview some case studies about resolutions they have made that have had a negative financial impact on their lives. These can be New Year resolutions, although they don't have to be.
For example:
- someone who decided to sign up to a gym to get fit and ended up in a contract they never used.
- someone who decided to learn to drive and has never used a car since.
- someone who decided to invest in the stockmarket/somewhere else that ended up being disastrous.
- someone who spent loads on a dating website but it was a waste of time and money
- someone who decided to eat healthily, spent loads of money on juicers or weight loss clubs, and it was a waste of money
- someone who decided to stop drinking coffee to save money every day and ended up falling asleep at work or making a bad financial decision in some way
- something similar!
Case studies should ideally be willing to be photographed.
Let me know if you're interested by emailing me: Donna.freelancer+media@gmail.com with the subject line 'worst resolutions'.
You can check I am who I say I am on the Guardian website:

Thanks for your time.
