Hi all just a quick one this time, If you were to have your contract terminated after your probationary period where would you stand in regard to benefits etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just seen this - you are worried aren't you? Try not to, things will get sorted.
If your employment is terminated, your entitlement to benefits, primarily Jobseekers Allowance, will depend on the reason. If it is simply for the reason that it didn't work out between you and your employer, or that the hours are no longer available, then you would not get a sanction (a period where you do not get JSA).
Sanctions normally only come into play when someone has been dismissed for gross misconduct, or when the employee has left of their own accord and for no good reason.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll sort something out xGone ... or have I?0 -
yeah i am really worried mainly due to my phoning the ACAS help line and being told by the person there that if i challenge it I risk being let go when my probation is up0

Doesn't sound like the most helpful of advice!
I really do think that it is how you go about it. If you instigate a grievance, then yes, they probably would let you go.
Maybe you and your colleague could suggest negotiating hours between the two of you? From the sounds of it, that might be a workable solution?Gone ... or have I?0 -
How well do you think it would go down when i tell them I wont be available on certain days as that's when im doing my TUC certificate in employment law? :rotfl::T0

He he ... I studied Law at degree, and during that time my mum had a spell in hospital, where they were absolutely useless. I did most of my revision at the hospital, and it was amazing how their attitude changed when they saw my books on the Tort of Negligence!Gone ... or have I?0

rofl! im just thinking would it put off future employers to see that on my cv?
i quite fancy the TUC health and safety in the work place as well as i already have H&S training and a DSE assessor I suppose it would not look so obvious slotted in with that lot.0
