I took very good care painting my nails they looked great and I sat for 2 hours watching TV so as not to damage them.
Anyway, went to bed some 5 hours after painting them, got up this morning and each one has a smudge, grrrrr!!
Does anyone know of a product I can put on which will harden them so this doesn't happen again.

You need a quick drying top coat. I've used Seche Vite and Sally Hansen Insta-dry.
Seche Vite is good, it dries quickly and super shiny and hard but it shrinks on the nail. Even when I wrap my nail polish, the tips are always visible the next day
I recently started using Sally Hansen Insta-dry and it's so much better! Also super shiny and hard and dries in two minutes. It's only £5.99 and I definitely recommend it. I did my nails on Sunday with it and they still look immculate - no chips and only very minimal tip wear as I type a lot in work.0 -

Thank you I will try that.
How long do you sit nursing your nails before you feel you can start to do things?0 -
I use SH Insta-Dri as well. It's amazing. I've used Seche Vite as well but I prefer Insta-Dri and it's cheaper and easier to get hold of.
I can be up and about doing stuff within 5 mins of using Insta-Dri and I never get sheet marks, even if I paint my nails late at night.0 -
Another vote for Seche Vite, nails are dry within a few minutes, I wouldn't be without it when doing my nails.Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0

I'm doing stuff with my hands within 5 minutes or so with no problems0 -
For me it Seche Vite, Poshe Quick dry topcoat or Nails Inc Caviar Top Coat, 5 minutes and you can get on with your life LOL.
I wonder if Sally Hansen have improved the formula, I used it 4+ years ago and it wasn't a patch on Seche at that time (I think I still have unopened bottle in stash), might be worth another try?The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I know its not what you asked but I can't recommend Shellac nails enough.
I love the fact that you can walk out of the salon and your nails are perfectly dry and hardened and definitely no smudging!
It may not be very mse but it's certainly worth trying. I find mine last at least 2-3 weeks without a single chip. If it wasn't for regrowth I could go for longer.0 -
The Sally Hansen Insta Dry is on offer at Superdrug at £3.99. Just bought a bottle to try.0

Definitely second what others have said about a quick dry top coat, I've got one by essie and one by Sally hansen, the essie dries faster but I find it chips easier, the Sally hansen one that I use is called diamond flash and I'm impressed with it, I got it from Asda.I'm usually using a phone, so excuse my spelling please!0

I have now used the Sally Hansen. It certainly dries quickly. Time will tell regards the longevity!0
