pityriasis rosea, any tips?

As I'm itchy as hell! :o
I was diagnosed by the doctor last week who gave me aqueous cream and I've been trying anti histamines- Loratadine at the mo and did try chloramphenamine, but it made me drowsy and im still so itchy, especially at night or if I get warm.
Going to go back or get a telephone consult to see if there's anything else that would help when I can get an appointment, it's annoying and affecting sleep but not sure if a walk in centre would help?
I'm just wondering if there were any tips from fellow sufferers?
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

  • Poor you, I sympathise as I am prone to rashes
I was prescribed a steroid cream which helped, I realise it can only be used for short periods. It may be worth asking your GP

How are you using the aqueous cream? If your GP told you to put it directly on your skin he is an idiot. Please look at the warnings against aqueous cream on sites such as eczema.org.
Aqueous cream makes the situation WORSE.

Have you tried using nappy rash cream? Weleda calendula nappy rash cream is very soothing and non-sticky. Much better stuff than Johnson's. I know it sounds bonkers, but nappy rash creams are specifically designed for irritated delicate skin.
Go to a different GP and ask for a stronger prescription antihistamine.
Try washing your bed linen and nightwear at 90 degrees. NO powder. As you sweat at night you may be reacting to your washing powder. Also try sleeping with fewer blankets and no heating. Being cooler might help with the sweating.
