Are Nationwide your existing bank? You might have to go to the Co-op then, as if they are already one of your creditors, they may not downgrade your account for youDISCHARGED 12th December 2007:T

Yep, as backontheup says, if they are one of your creditors you will need to go somewhere else for your banking needs - co-op are very good imho. Good luck!

Nationwide won't allow BRs to open a basic account with them if you already either owe them money or have got a current account elsewhere.
Personally, I think you're better off going elsewhere - although I can't prove it, I always have this feeling that a creditor who's lost money through you going BR will keep an eye on any other accounts you've got with them to see what money is moving in & out of the account, & see if there's any way they can get back what was owed to them. If Nationwide won't let you open a new account with them, they may have done you a favour.
