DMP - mortgage -SVR - soft search -please help ...

Hi

wonder if anyone can help,i am currently in a DMP at the moment, but looking to switch my mortgage to a fixed rate with my existing lender - Halifax

from what i remembered this was quite an easy process until i phoned up today to find quite alot has changed.

the advisor said he had to take income, employment, credit information for the application, it sounded like i was after a brand new mortgage, he then said it was possible they would do a soft search on my report.

hearing that they would soft search us rang alarm bells - obvs being on a DMP i have defaults all over the place.

so the questions i have is

will a soft search show up defaults credit balances credit scores?

will i be stuck on a SVR until my defaults all drop off???

if i completely fail halifax's assessment/application can they take me off the SVR and out me on a mortgage with horrendous rates?

thanks in advance

  • they can't take away what you have, but at the same time they probably won't offer you a better deal
