Russell, do not worry. They can not and will not do anything. They are like school yard bullies, they shout, threaten and yell. Just ignore them, if you respond they will attempt to tie you up in knots and get you to commit to making repayments.
Follow the advice in this thread and you will be fine. If you must contact them, send Georges letter in post 5.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

hi i'm new to the forum but not the site.
i too recieved a letter from mackenzie hall this morning. like an idiot i tried to phone but lucky for me there was no answer!!!! so i won't try again. i know that i have absolutely no outstanding debts whatsoever anywhere. my boyfriend got in a bit of a mess but all sorted before anything nasty happened!
i shall be contacting the citizens advice later to tell them about it, is there anywhere else i can complain about this company? i don't want anyone turning up at my door, and i don't want to contact them in any way. they don't need to ask if i'm me, all my paperwork and electoral register stuff is up to date so they know i live here!!!
advice...thoughts? much appreciated.0 -
i forgot to mention that they had the cheek to stick an unpaid postage sticker of £1.24 on my envelope. my postie didn't ask me for the money, and i wouldn't have paid it anyway.

HI HAD A PHONE CALL FROM THESE MUPPETS ABOUT A SO CALLED DEBT IN 1992 I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS LEFT MESSAGE 2 RING THEM ASAP SHOULD I MAKE CONTACT OR JUST IGNORE THEM CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS CHEERS RUSSELL
I see that Mackenzie Hall are up to their old tricks again.
In spite of the number of complaints, against this band of 'legalised criminals', registered at the Kilmarnock Trading Standards office, they continue to flout the guidelines laid down by the Office of Fair Trading, to which they are supposed to adhere.
Any 'alleged debt' dating back to 1992, to which the 'debtor' has made no payment, or made any written contact to the creditor, is almost certainly covered by the Limitations Act (1980) making it 'Statute Barred'. Once a debtor has said that they will NOT make any payments to such an 'alleged debt' then MH can not collect it, or continue to harrass for payment.
Have a look here, for confirmation:
Mackenzie Hall are a particularily NASTY group of thugs who beleive that they alone are above the law.
If they persist in their despicable behaviour - report them to the Kilmarnock Trading Standards Office.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Last week, these clowns sent a letter to my parent's address looking for me.
1. I'm on the electoral roll and BT directory enquiries at my actual address, so easy to trace, surely?
2. Like others above, they didn't even have the courtesy to put a stamp on the letter, so I had to go to the sorting office and pay £1.28 to retrieve it.
Can you see why I'm thinking I won't be doing any business with them? No idea what they're supposed to be chasing me for, I'm easily traceable at my existing address, and unable to lick stamps.
Fools. And irritating ones at that.
