Have a fabulous breakEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Hi Miz
I found you :T.
I am sooo jealous of you going to the US. I have had a lifetimes love affair with America, and dream of touring around it when we are eventually back on our feet.
Hope you are having a fantastic time.
Look forward to hearing about it all when you get home xxx
Ps. Fab news on the sheep. Why don't you get some £10 each orphan lambs, they will eat the grass but also fill the freezer at the end of the year?? Just an idea xx0 -
Got back earlier in the week but am still catching up. Had a lovely time - though the Chicago trip was a bit of a wild goose chase - their "National Archive" is a little more "modest" than the one at Kew! Plus it is in a part of Chicago that people don't like to go to because of the gun crime!! Anyway I survived - though all I discovered about GGgrandpa is that he never became a US citizen.
Had our first discussion with BIL a couple of days ago and he is putting together a portfolio for us - based on stocks and shares ISAs at the moment - so we should get that up and running in the next few weeks. Until then we are just keeping stuff in the Santander 123. We are also aiming to build up our emergency fund/buffer. We should start off with a little but need to build that up as much as we can.
Steph - welcome! Glad you found my new diary. On the sheep - we have fallen for the Shetlands - wanting small sheep that will eat the grass and provide wool - going to avoid the freezer for the time being - though I know that if we have lambs some will have to go eventually!

Right - caught up now with YNAB - still got some tail ends of cards to sort out - a couple now in credit - a couple with recent internet spends that need paying off (all budgeted). Then I need to decide which cards to keep and get rid of the rest. I want to have one MC and one Visa - sometimes useful to pay by credit rather than debit card for various reasons - though will set them up to pay off full amount each month.
Today I have catching up to do - shopping and errands, clearing up (friend coming to stay) and finally getting the sales page up for my on line course. I have been putting this one off - what is that about? I have now run it successfully twice - feedback has been excellent - and I have several people waiting for the next run. So why am I holding back? Must do it.
Other than that just going to try to keep warm and dry. Tired of the rain already...0 -
That sounds great, miz! I got distracted earlier, didn't get to wave hello ... welcome back!
I wonder if your great grandfather's info fell between the cracks in terms of federal and state? I don't have any intuitive sense at all of where the line is between the two, its very confusing to me.
Wool sounds a good introduction to sheep, using the meat comes a bit later, yes
Get that online course information up and running!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
