Stuck and can't switch :(

Options
Hi,

I joined the MSE Energy club and decided to move from my old provider EDF to Npower in May.
Unfortunately npower has only been able to switch my electricity and not gas. They say their system, that moves the Gas part, is broken at the moment. So i am stuck on EDF's standard rate.

When I login to the MSE Enery Club and try and switch, it say's Switch In Progress, so basically not allowed to switch to a new deal.

Do I need to wait until my deal with npower has expired before I can switch again. Or can I say that they have not met their conditions for me moving, due to the fact my gas is still with EDF?

Thanks

    1. No need to be stuck on EDF's standard (expensive!) rate. Give them a call and get the best rate from them for your situation - should be able to do that during the phone call. EDF have no early exit fees on any of their current tariffs.
    2. Don't try to switch again if you know there is a problem with your account. Get the problem sorted first!

    Hi groove_timer

    Thanks for your post.

We're currently experiencing issues in taking over gas supplies from certain Independent Gas Transporters (or IGTs). This is because the data or information which is sent through during the change of supply process is sent through in a different format that of National Grid, which can cause problems in transferring the supply between companies or delays in doing so.

I'm happy to investigate this further if you can get in touch with us using the details on our profile page with some further information; we'll need your name, address including postcode and the MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) or MSN (Meter Serial Number) - these are normally shown on your bills so it may be worth checking these.

Please mark any emails with your user name so we can find your original post and mark it as MSE so we know to respond to you. If we're unable to take the supply over, we can make sure the contract/supply transfer request is cancelled which should allow you to switch to another supplier if needed.

    Regards

    Jess :)
