Company failure to submit p11d

in Cutting tax
evening,
tonight i received a call from an old employer, i left this employment in july 2013, they had a car owned by them that i had soul access too, they did not complete a p11d for me at any point of my employment and they have stated they have a tax bill to pay due to this. they have asked me to say this was my fault and they will pay (as this will wipe the interest of and save them £1600) firstly i would like to know am i liable for any of this tax? i believe my employer was taxing me correctly.

How on earth could this be your fault (or HMRC even see it as such)? They didn't know they had supplied you with a car?!!!
