Mortgage while in job probation

Hi all,
Is it possible to get a joint mortgage (at all? at a reasonable rate?) if one partner is in their probation period in a new job (and to complicate issues had a few months unemployment after redundancy)?
Looking at the paperwork from a lender for a house we were going to buy (we withdrew from the sale as the seller was v awkward and slow) they were fine with job probation periods but required no break in employment for the previous 12 months.
Is it a pipe-dream??
Thanks!

i've just exchanged on a house with a joint mortgage with halifax. When we applied my other half hadn't started the job (he's been in it a month now) and had been unemployed for the past 2 years. I'd been in my job 2 years.
So it is possible.
My last mortgage i got within my probation period at work and nationwide were not worried about that.0 -
