Question for those of you who had your Wonga loan wiped

Hi,

Any of you that were included in the number of people who recently had their Wonga loans wiped out, has Wonga removed any defaults against you as well? My loan wasn't in the amount included and I believe that it should've been so I'm sending them a complaint. However, I want to know if I should ask them to remove the default as well or just wipe the loan. I'm leaning towards the former as I figure that I'm being cheeky as it is so I might as well go all in. What do you guys think?

  • Hiya, have you checked the email account used in your wonga account/loan as I didn't recieve an email on the 10th and I firmly believed I was one of the ones who should have been included and was going to complain if my account hadn't been wiped by the end of the month. I checked my email account yesterday and found out I recieved an email on Wednesday saying my account was being wiped!! I reckon theyre still sending the emails out as they couldn't physically do it on the 10th like they was supposed to. I wonder if the fca know they're still sending emails! :p

Congratulations, good for you! :jI checked from the 10th to the 15th and didn't hear anything so I e-mailed them on the 15th and they replied a few days later saying that my loan wasn't included in the amount as they believe that I passed the affordability checks. Thanks for the info though, I didn't know they were still e-mailing people. :)

I also contacted them on the 13th and they said I wasn't included, but I recieved an email on the 22nd. It may be worth checking your emails for the 22nd x

    Hi all

I was expecting to hear from Wonga but didn't so I sent them an email, they replied saying 'your recent loan has been assessed against the new criteria and that assessment has confirmed that your loan is affordable.'

I was quite surprised at this so to double check I applied for a loan, which was turned down due to their 'new lending criteria and forbearance programme.' Please note - I would not have taken this loan if accepted!

Any ideas? Surely if I'm not eligible for a loan now then I wouldn't have been before as my circumstances haven't changed?

That's not necessarily the case, they could well have tightened their criteria.
  • Hi,

Thanks for all your help, everyone. I've realised that it's probably a bit early to say if Wonga's going to remove everyone's defaults considering that they still haven't finished telling everyone who's been affected that their debts have been written off. So I've decided to ask for them to do it as part of my complaint e-mail as that way, that gives me some room for negotiation later on. I've sent the e-mail so wish me luck, everyone. :)
