A Couples Christmas!!!

Options
Afternoon,

The OH and I would like to have a couples Christmas this year as we haven't had much quality time together as his sister has been living with us for a while. Anyway, do you have any ideas on nice things to do eat. Other than walk the dog and have roast port instead of turkey.... that it all we can think of and that's not very special is it. Im at work Christmas Eve as well so there is not much prep time.

Thanks
Shoei

We usually just eat a lot and watch TV.

Some hotels offer dinner on Christmas Day. We keep being tempted as it's not only a dinner with all the trimmings. Some include unlimited drinks for the whole day and even a visit from Santa with a small gift. Then music and dancing in the evening.
  • A day where its just the 2 of you sounds special already:)

For breakfast, we sometimes have lucky charms, the cereal of our childhood, as a treat. You could go for bagels with philadephia, brie on toast, fresh pastries or if you'll struggle to get fresh, waitrose do frozen croissants! A glass of bucks fizz or prosecco would be a nice treat, although might not go with lucky charms very well.

I think its nice to go for a walk on christmas day- everyone you see out is cheerful and its nice and peaceful.

How about treating yourselves to a couple of films to see you through the afternoon? Or a new board game? There's a company we've just discovered called 'days of wonder' that does some really good games that work well for 2 people. Our latest is ticket to ride, and we'll get ourselves something new for Christmas.

In the evening, I'd go for party foods- spring rolls, samosas, mini sausage rolls, etc.

If you have time to set it up, you could send your other half on a treasure hunt round the house, following clues to find his presents...

We are doing the same this year. We live near a lovely big park with a stately home in the middle so we will be going there for a nice walk at some point. I'm just looking forward to being able to do what we want, not being behoved to majority rule...

A quiet Xmas with only a few loved ones is wonderful, I always hated being dragged around family as a kid and the enforced fun and Xmas cake (can't stand the stuff)

Hubby and I always spend the majority of Xmas together just the two of us with lunch at his parents - other than that we simply watch crappy telly and have fun in the kitchen

We had our first Christmas without the kids last year - at first I was dreading it, but I decided to enjoy it rather than ruin it with my moaning and we had a lovely day.

We woke up late (ish), had coffee in bed and swapped gifts
Spoke to the kids on the phone
Had a late breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on muffins with a glass of bubbly
Went to the pub to meet friends at lunchtime for an hour
Then came home and we had local fillet steak, with asparagus and fondant potato,s and local cheese and bisc for dessert all accompanied by a decent bottle of wine
Then did the traditional flop in front of the box and having a little snooze.
A few picky bits later, that was it - and bed time

That was our idea of a lovely day - just do what you feel is best and don,t be guilted into anything else x
