in Cutting tax
Hi,
needing a little help in understanding the rules.
Right now the company I work for pays any overnight expenses separately from my pay. I get a set amount that covers accommodation and food.
This is paid in cash and I have to give back the receipt for the accommodation. The company have said this has to change.
They are talking about taking tax out of the amount before they give it to us.
I have looked on hmrc website and got a bit confused if the allowance was taxable or not.
If anyone could tell me the procedure, I would be grateful.
Thanks dee

Thanks for the replies .
I dont get that much and it is always used. Only I am away alot and over the year it would all add up.
I dont understand why I should be taxed for something that I cant control and wouldnt have if the company didn't send me away.
I thinl I might have to look for another job if I have to lose money every time I have to stay away. I also can not afford to pay it out then have to try claim it back.0
