3 years proof of address

Options
Morning all,

So I’m in a bit of a pickle.

I’m applying for a shared ownership mortgage and my mortgage broker is asking for 3 years proof of address.
They will only accept a bank statement, utility bill or ‘Memorandum of sale from a housing association’.

My issues are:

I’ve moved home 3 times in the last 3 years
My utility bills are covered by my landlord so I don’t have any in my name
My bank statements are paperless so I never had them posted so it never occurred to me to update my address. (but I will do from now on!)
My bank statements for my accounts are registered to my parent’s house but I've updated the address to my current tenancy.

I've spoken with my bank (HSBC) and they have said that even if I update my address now my statements from 2012 and 2013 will have the address that was printed on them at the time (my parent’s address).

Has anyone had this issue before and am I basically up the creek..

Perhaps, I should just apply as if I've been living at my parents for the last 3 years even though I haven’t..?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Speak to your broker about this and ask their advice.

Is this being requested by the broker, or by the lender to whom you've applied?

It sounds like Leeds BS TBH and if you've already applied, it appears moot asking about applying as if you've lived at your parents' all this time.

At which property/ies are/were you on the electoral roll as this is the usual reason a lender requests POA going back several years?

  • Hi Kingstreet

well, the morgage broker was at the viewing i went to and I subsequently approached them for a quote.

Now that I’ve been offered an apartment I’m appointing my solicitor and mortgage arrangements.

The mortgage broker has asked for this along with a whole host of documentation, I guess, to pre-empt any requests from the lenders.

I’ve already informed them that I don’t have any utility bills other than a mobile phone bill as my utilities have been covered by my tenancies. Therefore the only other option is the bank statement which is proving difficult.

I’ll call them tomorrow and see if there is anything they can suggest but so far it seems like there’s no hope in getting round it
