Time barred Items vs Employment

I have a time barred item on my credit report
the default is dated June 3rd 2001, Shouldn't this have rolled off?
Why is it still there?
More annoying it is incorrect and so does not show on Experian or Equifax
just Call Credit (bank fixed that few years ago)
I am applying for a job, the bank will do a check so will the FSA
What is the quickest way to remove it. They are going to run the check in about a weeks time. I know the bank will take ages to fix this, It took them long enough to fix the other 2, 5 years ago. I missed the call credit entry.
What do I do? If I pay it off, can the Bank / FSA still see it after 6 years?
The amount is only 500, so I would rather get the job and pay the money
Even though it is an incorrect charge, I can always get the bank to refund me later. If I wait the time it will take the bank and Call credit to fix I will lose the job.
What should I do?

I would give them a call. It's only 6 weeks since it went over the 6 years and I think most companies update once a month at best.

thanks, called up callcredit, they cant tell me when it will be fixed, they gave me a generic "well could take 6 weeks, write us back then", called bank, they dont think I owe them any money, cant find my a/c number etc etc. I'm completely fustrated, I'm going to lose a job because of this crap. Excuse my French, pretty sure this will takes weeks of letter writing to get fixed, CallCredit did say they will update if the bank tells them to but cant even get bank to admit I owe them money, atleast them I could pay and move on.....
got no idea how to fix this in a few days....

Could you warn the bank it's going to be there, explain that it shouldn't be there and that it is being sorted out but that it may take a few weeks? If they're going to see it anyway, honesty is probably the best policy. Good luck and I hope it doesn't affect your chances of getting a job.
One thing that occured to me was that most banks don't use call credit anyway, the majority use equifax/experian, so you might be okay."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Ill just add it to the employment form and explain, cross my fingers....

I'm not sure why they don't to be honest - I think it's one of those catch-22 situations where one bank wont use them because other banks use them, so maybe the information on there isnt as rich. Although apparently they have the most up to date software of the three companies from what ive heard."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
