Ideas for small jars...

I have about 8 of these knocking about the house and I don't know what to do with them. No one appears to like jam or homemade chutneys (must be my cooking :rotfl: )

so any ideas appreciated :T

I did homemade body scrubs last year - easy and cheap to make, lots of instructions on internet. Can add any fragrance you like but make sure if you use essential oils they are suitable for topical use (ie skin) not just for burning. Also add a little vitamin E oil (I got small bottle in superdrug skincare section) to give mixture longer shelf life.

Roast some nuts (many recipies online again) and add homemade label to jar.

Or just fill with favourite sweets, add ribbon and homemade tag.

    Have fun!!

If you look in the December issue of the good food magazine (the one with the chocolate orange bomb on the cover) they have marshmallow snowmen standing in chocolate powder in a glass jar. You add hot water / milk and make a hot chocolate and dip in your marshmallow snowman. :j

Yum! Alternatively, for sweet treat I would suggest lightly candying some hazelnuts / almonds / pecans. Or make some HM truffles - cream, chocolate, cocoa powder / icing sugar and a dash of liqueur is all that is required. Or layer up with dry flapjack ingredients - of your own choosing- and instructions to add to melted butter and golden syrup and bake for the lucky recipient at a later time of their choosing. That can be v cost effective!

Alternatively stick a scented small pillar candle inside one (melt the base first so it sticks), add a label and some non-flammable decoration to the exterior (a glue and glitter job). Just make sure there is no rubber seal to destroy first, though.

We bought some the other day from a Christmas Food & Gift show, that were pre-filled, with all the ingredients (except eggs and butter) to make cookies. Just empty the contents into a bowl, add the egg and butter, mix and put in the oven. The simple instructions were on a card, tied to the jar.
  • Wow thanks for the ideas guys :D I had considered hiding money but the jars are only small...I may have a play about and see what I can come up with with that. I may invest in a few more with these ideas :T
