Reclaiming bank charges

I have sent a letter with the help of this sites template, I am trying to reclaim £2650 which I have been charged over the past 6 years. I have just today received a call from Barclays saying that due to the courts ruling in Banks favour they would not be able to refund the £2650 but would as a good will gesture refund the bank charges that I have had over the past year which is £80.00 should I take this further? has any one had any luck with claiming money from Barclays?

Your mistake was to use an old template. The minute you mention unfair or unjustified or words of that ilk, you get the auto-rejection due to them winning the court case.
If you take it further to the FOS, then the bank can withdraw the £80 offer if they choose to do so and the FOS no longer take on complaints about unfair bank charges (just incorrect application and financial hardship cases). Even in hardship cases, they will often only refund the last 6 months. So, you getting a refund of the charges over the last year is a result you should be happy with.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks I didnt use any unfair or unjust in the wording of the letter See the afollowingI am writing to request that you repay all the charges in relation to direct debits, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders that have been applied to my account in the past six years.
I believe the fact that I have been incurring bank charges goes contrary to the aims of the Lending Code (Section 9) and Banking Conduct of Business Sourcebook (section 5.1.4 ‘in particular, a firm should deal fairly with a banking customer whom it has reason to believe is in financial difficulty’). My personal situation has been affected by the charges leaving me in financial hardship and I am writing to request that you take the following grounds into consideration:0 -
Barclays have looked at your current situation and refunded recent fees. This is a fair way of approaching the situation.

If you said that in your letter then it would explain the response as you are making an allegation that the charges are wrong but they are not. You should never make any reference to your opinion that charges are against the rules as they lead to automatic rejections.
Barclays have done better and considered your financial situation and refunded a years worth of charges which is fair. Indeed, its more than most that would do 6 months to those in hardship.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
