Green deal

I have had 2 estimates for both solid wall insulation and solar panels, both requiring funding or loans, then I met with a guy from Green Earth Marketing, who advised everything was free apart from the £275 survey then it is all funding by the government or the energy company, he then stated that some of those who have taken out loans with Barclays are now suing and getting it back. He had no id or anything on him not even a card, leaflet etc , is he right?

As a qualified Green Deal Advisor, and working for a solar company....I wouldn't advise anyone to take solar on the green deal...

You asked for ID and he refused/didnt have any? Sounds dodgy. I wouldn't entertain anybody in any industry that did that, but hey, thats just me.

    Advice.
    GD for SWI - Yes
    GD for Solar - No.

I have a contact for SWI, credible and qualified. Depending on your location it may of of interest?
Why on earth would Barclays be getting sued??Sounds like a load of bull to me.
My advise, sounds like a double glazing salesman, stay away.

Just out of interest, why would you not recommend solar under the Green Deal? Just had a Green Deal assessment last week as the council are providing grants for boiler replacements and other energy saving measures (not solar) for which you need a Green Deal assessment even if you do not take out a Green Deal loan. One of the recommended measures was solar PV, but I understand the Green Deal would only cover part of the cost of this.

  • my advise is don't go with green earth, their previous trading name was tivium and scammed a lot of money off a lot of people, I was one of the lucky 1% people who did get an installation through them but only because I hounded them several times a day for several weeks and contacted trading standards. worst experience for me ever, caused so much upset and stress. I'm presuming it still run by the same bunch of couldn't give a toss ripping off idiots. if seriously considering having the work done, I think its best to go with someone local
