Aegon - contact details

Hi,
Recently received a general letter from Aegon which doesn't have any specific account or details about me or the why they required my NI number and details. They want it to "update" their records for some reason. At fisrt reading of the letter I was sceptical about the letter being from a reptubable source although it appears the prepaid envelope address looks correct.
I had an account with Scottish Equitable many years ago which I beleived I passed to another pension provider. Recently, I merged all the Pensions pots into one via a company who search out any pensions I may have lost and combine them - Scottish Equtiable being one.
My query? Why would Aegon be writing to me now as its 3 years since tying up and drawing my pensions? May be a bit paranoid?

Aegon are trying to verify that you are really the person they are trying to contact? Have you moved and they are trying to find you?
The reference to "Recently, I merged all the Pensions pots into one via a company who search out any pensions I may have lost and combine them" is a trifle worrying. Are you sure they were legitimate? How much did they cream off for this?0 -

Scottish Equitable rebranded as Aegon some years backRecently, I merged all the Pensions pots into one via a company who search out any pensions I may have lost and combine them - Scottish Equtiable being one.
You say recent and suggest 3 years but Scot Eq have been trading as Aegon for more than 3 years. Like greenglide, I am also concerned at your statement as there are a lot of cold calling scams at the moment that pretend to offer a tracing service and more or less run off with your money. My query? Why would Aegon be writing to me now as its 3 years since tying up and drawing my pensions? May be a bit paranoid?
Maybe they now feel you were potentially defrauded. Maybe you have another pension segment that wasnt transferred. Maybe whatever? Why dont you ask them?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
