MOT paperwork

Hi - I have turned the house upside down and can't find my current MOT certificate and have an appointment for this year's test on Monday. It says on the appointment letter I have to bring the current certificate. Would the display disc do? If not how quickly can I get a replacement certificate?

To date (after several MOTs) I have never been asked for this certificate. I would go without it. The display disc must have all of the information needed.

    As above

You wont be asked for it. Bring the v5c and the appointment details.

I dont even get asked for the VC5 or appointment letter.
  • there is no need to take an old mot certificate with you . I'm an mot tester so I know . The amount of people who do is a lot but it doesn't have any bearing on the test or a reason not to test . If you have credit to be awarded upto a month , Because it's computersied the computer does it automatically
  • Brilliant guys - thank you! Saves me worrying all weekend. :)

Pre electronic information it was to show to an officer of the law or to tax a car at the DVLA/ Post Office . Now its all moving online database linked to ANPR systems etc .
  • Would you believe I found the certificate about half an hour after my last post last night. Just as well - the V5 was with it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Any dashboard light now is an automatic failure.
