Find my grandpa pension

Hi everybody,
I have a complicated situation.
Long time ago, my grand grand father came from Albania(Europe) here in US. He worked here all life. During this period he pay for two type of pension( this is what he told to the family in Albania). For one was obligated to pay ( probably this in 40-50-60-70-80, was like social security that we have now) and the other was private( I think something like 401K now). His private plan was under three name, his name, his wife name( she never came in USA, she died in Albania) and their daughter, which is my grandmother.
Since Albania was isolated country cause of communism, it was impossible for my family to get involve in this kind of problem.
I have less than two year here in US, I have the curiosity to know this amount of money that my family, coming from a bad condition(communism) used to talk always as the family treasure.
He lived and died in Pittsburgh Pa.
My family has some documents, like some old checks( I searched for the bank’s name and that bank doesn’t excite anymore), a document that said, after his death, only two people are beneficial from his saving money, her wife and her daughter.
My question is simple, is there anyway to see this amount of money so I can decide after if its worthy to but my efforts on all procedure for possessing that.
I would really appreciate your help.

    This is a UK website.
I doubt if there will be a lot of people here who know much about US or Albanian situations.

    Wrong website - UK only.
Stephen Covey once said that "when you teach once, you learn twice". That is the primary reason for my participation on the forums as an IFA.

Although I strive to provide accurate information in my posts, there may be the odd time when I fail. Yes I know it's hard to believe but even Your Hero can make mistakes. Apologies in advance.
