2. Instructed by British GAS to collect outstanding amount to collect in a previous address in
We rented a room in this address and shared with my Father in Laws. however we never has any electricity or Gas on my wifes name. All were on my Father in laws name, notably the letter states the priod 4 -11-2012 -31.11.212. We moved out of the property 31.10.12.
3. offering some discount ask to pay the money.

I am confused what to do. Shall i ring them and tell them they got wrong person / didnt have any account with British GAS and also moved out the date. will this affect my wifes credit file? please help.
If we wouldn't visit my father in laws we wouldn't know about this.

    Hi lionsl2005

Did your father-in-law move out of that property at the same time as you? I'm trying to work out how a separate bill has been issued to your wife if the energy account was previously in his name.

If it comes to it, will your wife have any paperwork to show where you moved to on 31/10/12? This would obviously help to show that she could not have been using energy at the old address during the period in question.

Best not to call, as they are trained sales people, and will possibly still make attempts to collect this from you, words can be twisted on the phone, and things can be said that can not be backed up.
Write to them with your concerns over this, explain the situation in a clear, concise way, and that should be that.
